There’s lots of things to do and see in Philadelphia not to mention plenty to eat! The problem is the Democratic National Convention is only four days long. So how do you do everything on your Philly bucket list?
Simple — you come back.
We’ve made a list of the top reasons why you should come back to Philly.
This Summer
Made in America - Benjamin Franklin Pkwy
Saturday, Sept. 3 to Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016
For the last few years Philly has been home to the Made in America Festival — a two-day concert put on by Jay Z right on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. This year’s talent may be the best ever with Rihanna and Coldplay slated to headline along with DJ Khaled, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne and more than 10 other acts.
This Fall
Eastern State Penitentiary - Late September to Early November: 2016 Schedule TBA
ESP is always something to see offering historical tours of the prison year-round, but in the Fall the building gets a haunting makeover for Terror Behind the Walls. There are six chilling attractions in total which rank among some of the best haunted houses in the country every year.
Harry Potter Festival - Friday, Oct 21 – Saturday, Oct. 2, 2016
Calling all Harry Potter fans! Why not watch a real-life Quidditch game with a pint of Butterbeer in your hand? This two-day event has all that and more and it’s fittingly a train ride away from Center City out in Chestnut Hill.
This Winter
Christmas Village - Thursday, Nov. 24 – Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016
Grab a cup of hot cocoa and walk around this authentic German Christmas market in LOVE Park. Find the perfect ornament to add to your Christmas tree in the Kaeth Wohlfahrt tent and then check out some of the unique clothing and jewelry vendors. Buy some roasted nuts or a chocolate covered fruit kabob before you head over to see more shops across the street at Dilworth Park and maybe even go ice skating.
Macy’s Light Show - Late November to December: 2016 Schedule TBA
If you’re feeling chilly from walking around Christmas Village, head to Macy’s in the historic Wanamaker building behind City Hall. Watch all your favorite holiday characters come to life set to the world’s largest playing pipe organ in a light display narrated by Julie Andrews. Afterwards, head to the third floor to walk through the story of A Christmas Carol in Dickens Village, ending with a visit from Santa.
Spring 2017
The Flower Show -Saturday, March 11 – Sunday, March 19, 2017
The Flower Show is a much-anticipated event in the city to help get people in the spring spirit with a little garden inspiration. This year’s theme is Holland so expect plenty of tulips and definitely a few windmill displays. Besides flowers and tons of photo op spots, vendors will be there in full force selling home and garden decor, jewelry and more.
Broad Street Run - Sunday, May 7, 2017
Blue Cross Broad Street Run is a 10-mile race through Philadelphia so popular among locals and tourists alike that runners must enter a lottery to be selected as one of the 40,000 participants lined up on race day. A huge party awaits the runners at the finish line! The event also raises thousands of dollars each year for the American Cancer Society.
Summer 2017
Philly Beer Week -Friday, June 2 – Sunday, June 11, 2017
The 10-day event offers special beer tastings, discounts and tours at some of Philly’s finest bars, restaurants and breweries. The infamous Hammer of Glory helps get the party started with a ceremonial tapping of the first keg with bar-goers helping to “pass the torch” to each new bar. If you call yourself a beer lover, we’ll see you back in Philadelphia next year!
No matter the season, no matter the reason, no matter the year, Philly will always give you reasons to come back for more. No matter the event, Celebrity Worldwide Transportation will always be here to offer you the best services.
